Holidays are an annual treat (if you're lucky!) that we spend much of the year saving up for, only to blow it all in a week or two. What if there were tropical destinations, on paradise islands that provided that much-needed break, whilst not causing you a heap of stress due to the price? Thankfully, these places do exist. It's just a matter of searching for them. So we've taken out the work and done it for you...
If you're looking for the true paradise island experience then I'm afraid you might have to pay just a little bit more for the holiday. That doesn't mean to say you need to fork out your life savings however...
The northernmost of the Mamanuca Islands (a group of thirteen islands just off the western coast of Fiji) gives keen vacationers the perfect opportunity to jet off and relax in the sun. Tokoriki island resort is made up of coastal villas overlooking the sea and white sandy beaches, with spas, outdoor showers, infinity edged pools, sunny patios, air conditioning and calming and warm neutral décor.
A five night holiday at the Tokoriki island resort will set you back just £815 per person (that's £163 per night). Ok, so it's not incredibly cheap but it's certainly worth the money!
Paradise doesn't come much more pure than at St. Kitts; one of the 23 islands making up the Leeward islands archipelago in the Caribbean. While sugar cane has driven the economy for hundreds of years, the 35,000 inhabitants of the island recognize it as inherently beautiful; hence why they have built resorts such as Ottley's Plantation Inn, not far from the island's capital city Basseterre.
Ottley's Plantation Inn has 24 luxuriously decorated and furnished rooms, available for 7 day stays starting at £815 per person (£117 per night). The grounds of the inn boast a refreshing plunge pool, two spas, a golf course, tennis, snorkeling and diving facilities. Nestled in the hills of Saint Kitts; this family-run hotel is the epitome of a paradise island getaway.
Thailand is an obvious choice for those searching for paradise. After all, who could possibly complain about the sparkling turquoise seas, white sands and monumental rocks just off the coast, towering hundreds of feet into the sky?
Ko Samui exhibits Thai luxury at its best and the Ko Samui resort does this at an incredibly reasonable price! For just 4000 Thai baht (£65) guests receive access to their own private terrace, Thai massages, a swimming pool with Jacuzzi, sun beds, a library, gourmet restaurant, TV, phone and internet, all within close proximity to the beach. It's all there and for such a low price, who could say no?
The peak season for tourism in Thailand is between November and February due to the warm climate at this time, so prices are at their highest then. The cheapest price is around £41 per night during the low season, and the highest £65 at the peak season.
Everyone's heard of the Bahamas and that's for a reason...it's an incredible holiday destination! The Breezes Resort on New Providence Island gives guests the chance to wake up and feel the breeze and see staggering views of the Caribbean sea, before breakfast at one of two top quality restaurants, water sports at the nearby beaches, swimming in the hotel pool or soaking in the Jacuzzi and finally a drink and dance in the bar, discotheque or ballroom that is on-site.
As if it couldn't get any better, the prices for the Breezes Resort are incredibly reasonable at just £105.26 for a double room per night at peak season. Just make sure you book early because New Providence Island is home to the Bahamas capital city, Nassau and since people go bananas for a Bahamas holiday anyway, it's one of the busiest areas.
It might be a mouthful but you don't need a wallet-full to stay at the Fihalhohi Island Resort. Located right in the middle of the Maldives archipelago (in the Kaafu Atoll division) Fihalhohi is the definitive paradise island. The skies don't get bluer, the seas don't get clearer and the sands don't get whiter than here.
For just $106 guests are treated to a 'comfort double' room, which includes a mini fridge, air conditioning, ceiling fan (it gets hot!), private terrace or balcony and bathtub, all under a beautiful palm thatched roof. Guests also have access to the Ayurveda treatments at the spa, nearby diving and snorkeling and of course the white sandy beaches.
This is one of the Thailand's little treasures and at just £108 a night at peak season for a deluxe room with double bed you really can't argue. The resort which comes complete with swimming pool, Jacuzzis, outdoor dining and direct beach access lies right at the heart of Ko Phi Phi Don; a Thai island located near Phuket, whose neighboring island (Ko Phi Phi Leh) provided the filming location for box office hit film The Beach, starring Leonardo Di Caprio.
Guests at the Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel are treated to a mini bar, private balcony, satellite TV, air conditioning, a mini fridge and access to beach sports facilities. The Cabana hotel allows its visitors to fully enjoy the staggeringly beautiful views over the Andaman Sea and the rest of Tonsai bay whilst also taking advantage of the landscape with hiking trails, beach activities and water sports.
