Default Using bicycle in China

I always wanted to go to China. Would it be a good idea to get a bicycle and ride along with the locals? It looks like fun! Where do you park your bicycle?

It seems as though bikes are one of the main ways to get around China - I have no clue where they park all those bikes!

Based upon what I've seen during the Olympics and on various travel shows, it really depends on where you are. If you are in Beijing, there are more cars now so I think if you ride a bike, you might be taking your life into your own hands. But if you are out in the more rural areas, bicycling might be safer.

It is a great idea to move on a bicycle, though at times traffic is a dampner but the thrill is much more. As far parking, I think the place you put up at, will be right choice.I myself have traveled on bicycle almost 500 miles, say 15 yrs back.

I see many of them parked along side streets. There are bunch of them. Aren't they easy to be stolen? Or are bikes there so common that people care less?

Things are changing so you might do better to find out if you can drive a car in China.

Has anyone tried getting an international driver's license?
