Default Cruises to Mexico

If you were taking a cruise to Mexico, what are the 3 cities you would want to make sure you saw on your trip?

We did a cruise to mexico in 2003. We went to Belize, Costa Maya, and Cayman Islands. It was very nice but reminded a lot of florida with all the beaches and tourists shops. I guess when your used to that it doesn`t seem different unless you take the tours. But those were too expensive for us so we just stayed near the ship.

Although there are many places to visit in Mexico, one place that I would not go to again is Ensenada. My wife and I took a cruise to Ensenada last year and just wasn't the place for us. I was surprised to find bars open at 10 AM and people already getting wasted. The little kids begging for money was also a real turn-off, especially since I knew they weren't keeping it for themselves.

I have been to Ensenada and have found the same thing!! I actually enjoyed that aspect of the town, because that was the major reason we went down But I can definitely see how this could be a turn-off for other travelers. I also was very uncomfortable with the increased police presence in that area.

I think if I went down to Ensenada when I was in my 20s and did it with some college buddies I probably would have had a great time. It just happens that I went down there at a more mature stage of my life and my drinking days are way in the past, so the bar scene didn't really appeal to me. The shops were very touristy and didn't appeal to me either, but at least the cruise was fun.

'Touristy" is a good way to describe Ensenada, it just feels cheap. The drive down the coastline from San Diego to Ensenada though, is just beautiful - so I am sure the cruise was nice as well!

Let's see .. I would definetly pay a visit to Cancun, Acapulco, and the island of Cozumel. They all look like sunny places where you can have fun. Can i add a fourth? Puerto Vallarta looks so charming!

The cruise was the best part of the trip. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, especially the evening when my wife and I were on deck to watch the sun set over the horizon. To top it off, while we were cruising along, my wife and I happen to see a school of dolphin swimming in the distance. I cursed my camera at that point because I didn't have a really strong zoom lens.
