Default Confirming Flights

They have been canceling a lot more flights now, so I really urge everyone traveling to call and confirm with their airline around 2 weeks prior to their departure to make sure they are still scheduled.

Yeah, when I recently booked a flight I was reminded both in the E-mail and on my printed tickets to confirm before departure. They had a website you could confirm on though.

Very good advice indeed. My parent's flight was cancelled and the airline company didn't even have the decency to call. The old good times when the same airline company called you to confirm are gone. I am happy my dad is precise enough to call otherwise they would have lost a connecting flight.

Another thing: not only the flight was cancelled but the company didn't even want to reimburse for a hotel stay since the cancelled flight was post poned to the next day. Luckily, my uncle had them sleep at his home so there were no out of pocket expenses.

If you buy tickets through Expedia, they send emails about every change in your itinerary, but I agree, it is still a good idea to call and confirm. You never know what can happen.

It's ALWAYS a good idea to confirm your flights. Not just a couple of weeks before, but the day before too!!

Traveling is a lot more complicated now. I think airlines are going to drindle. They can't afford to stay in business so I think we're going to lose some in the next year or so.

Thanks for the advise. That is surely a very helpful one. Haven't thought of that before.

two weeks might seem a little too long
most flights get cancelled the same day, due to either technical problems or missed connections
