Default Security Wait Times

What is the longest you have ever waited in security, where was it? I was flying through Austin once and was selected for the big-time screening. I was taken aside and the entire contents of my carry-on, which was ALL my stuff, was unpacked on a table in front of everyone waiting in line. The whole process took about 20 minutes, in addition to the 90 minutes I had already stood in line... Oh the joys of flying!

I have to say probably half an hour or so. I've never been selected for the "big screening" though. I did have to take off a hoodie once though because the security guy told me that I looked "bulkier" than what he would "like to see"...and I had to tell him I thought the same about myself, unfortunately! LOL!

I've been lucky so far, never had to wait long at all. Having to unpack your bags sounds like a complete nightmare though.

What a rude security guy ekmallette! haha.

I was returning from Europe, and they asked me whether I was bringing in any food items. I had - some canned stuff, sausage, etc., European things that are hard to find over here. Turned out SAUSAGE was the wrong thing to say... They opened and checked all my luggage and took my poor sausage away.

I was trvaveling with my son, he had some weird toy in his bag, for that toy we were made to wait for almost an hour. The gaurds were stiff and so was my son, not ready to part with his toy. Finally he had to but with tears rolling down his eyes.

Aww poor kid! It is a sad state of affairs when we make children surrender their toys!

Did the toy look like a gun or some kind of a weapon? Even if it did, I would think upon close instection the guards should be able to determine that it is just a toy...

I think it was about half hour at Philly. This airport is huge and the lines get very long. However, I never complain when security is checking. I have seen frustrated passengers that yell at security or are simply complaining at the airport personnel. I am like "Hello, this is for yours and my security!, We all do not want any more 9/11's do we?"

I know some lines can be more orderly or some security could be a bit faster, and that it is all a very frustrating thing to deal with, but after all it is in our interest and our nation's interest. I really feel for the security being yelled at, bless their hearts, they are just working to protect us.

Same scenario when the plane is in the hanger being fixed. People yelling, they are going to be late etc. Isn't it better late than not making it at all because your plane crashed due to a technical problem?

Just my 2 cents

I've never been held up too long by security, it's customs that gets to me. One time, when I went to the UK, I had to wait 2 hours for customs, and got through in less than a minute. It was insane

Not long. I"ve been lucky. Even going through Customs was fairly uneventful, thank goodness. I think it's worse now than the last time I flew, which was a few years ago.
