I have seen people who have the habit of shopping before they leave for holiday and during the trip also they are fond of buying things. This makes the trip a bit heavy on the pocket,we refrain from all this .What about you?

My wife tends to just look at the necessities and then buys what we need. Every now and then, she and I might buy some clothing based upon the weather but that's all right. She'll also buy some food that we can snack on during the drive to where ever we are going.

Yes, I try to save money. My hubby and I try to stay away from shopping as this can be done any time of the year and any where. Why waste money and time on something can you do on your spare time at home? The only things I buy when on vacation are post cards and souvenirs.
Even when eating out on vacation we try to save, a pizza or sandwich on the go is ok for us as we head towards the attractions of the place. |

We are not big spenders, we would rather spend money on exploring a museum or a world-class dining experience, not knick knacks or useless things.

I might buy a clothes item or two before a trip if I see that I lack something, or some item could be replaced with a newer one. We usually do not shop during the trip. If we come across something we thought of buying anyway, and the price is good, we might go for it. What we never buy though is "dust collectors" - nice, cute, and absolutely useless stuff.

I sometimes buy a few new articles of clothing before a trip. I don't always buy souvenirs though because I take a lot of pictures and prefer those to dust collectors. Maybe a key chain or something like that I might pick up. When I travel in the states though, sometimes I'll buy or obtain plants that I like from certain areas for my garden.

Aside from picking up souvenirs, I'm not a big shopper during trips. I'm there to sightsee or attend a function. If I want to shop, I shop at home. As for before the trip, only what I might need special for the vacation, but that's never much.

we always budget for every trip, BEFORE we go on the trip.
We try to buy everything we need ahead of time, so there is not much impulse buying. We also allow some $ for 'blowing away' so we don't feel guilty if we do buy a couple of things on impulse ![]() It's all about being ready for it. |
