Default Lakeside Retreats

I've seen a lot about ocean beaches and such on here and no one has really mentioned lakesides which can be every bit as warm and relaxing as any ocean beach. Last week a gardening group that I'm affiliated with all met up in Fond du Lac, WI and one of our members rented a little cabin on Lake Winnebago. Even though unfortunately it was chilly, it was absolutely beautiful!! I can only imagine what it must be like during the warm summer months with the bright sunshine and such! Every bit as nice as a cottage by the ocean, I'm sure!! Do you have any favorite lakes you like to visit?

I've spent some time in the Muskoka area which is north of Toronto.

There are several resorts in the area, and there are beautiful lakes that attract tourism in the summer. There's also skiing at some of those resorts.

you might consider camping sites if you like it by the lake
there are numerous options, and quite affordable

We did some lakeside campling as a family when I was a kid, with swimming, fishing, cooking on the open fire, picking berries and mushrooms. I loved it.

even better than staying at the hotel sometimes
I guess you have to like the outdoors

I like to spend more time on beaches, I like the beach compared to mountains.
