I think flight attendants are probably under an extreme amount of stress these days. Many have lost the pensions they worked so hard for, and handling passengers who are shocked at having to payf for pillows and blankets can't be easy!

The rudest flight attendants I have encountered work for Aeroflot, the Russian international airlines. Not only their facial muscles are somehow unable to form a smile, they have an attitude, and a bad one. We were flying to London, and it looked like the plane was having some trouble, so some passengers expressed their concern. The response was along the lines of, "Of course the plane is fine, do you think the whole crew is suicidal?"

You both raise good points.

there must be a lot of stress on this type of job
also, the conditions 'at home' might be not very pleasant.

still, it is a pretty well paid job.
being nice to to costumers is not too much to ask

Flight attendants are customer advocate. They are trained to please customers or else they would drive customers away.
