Default Turkish food

How is the food in Turkey? Shoud I expect it to be spicy? I once went to a turkish restaurant and got some sort of bread with cucumbers, onions, meat and a sort of mayo and it was pretty good. I am not too fond of spicy food, so should I go, is there some sort of food I should stay away from?

I aware of two things regarding food in turkey one is that people are fond of very rich food and another thing is that they eat a lot. My sis used to tell me that when they used to have parties their Turkish guests used to eat their hearts out.

I like that! I am a good eater, I really do not eat really a lot but I like to savor a bit of this and a bit of that. I hear yogurt is used in a lot of dishes there and that the word yogurt is actually a turkish word.
