Christmas in Florida

I have been in Florida since 1973. We usually have warm Christmas`s. During our winter months is when we have a lot of tourists. They want to get away from the snow. We call them snowbirds. They stay for about 6 months and when they go home some rent out their condos or trailers. I have often wondered what they think when they see us putting lights on our palm trees lolol. In St. Pete people decorate like crazy. For me Christmas has never been the same without the snow. People used to cold weather will be out on the beach during our winter months. They even go in the water!

"Snowbirds" - LOL!!

That's a good nickname for the northern folk. So Florida locals would not go swim in winter? Is the water too cold?

I am used to seeing snow for Christmas as well. The idea of celebrating it with your shorts on sounds strange to me.
