Default Great Barrier Reef - Worth it?

I snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef a few years ago from Cairns. We took a boat to this platform thing and snorkeled off there and took a semi-submersible ride. I was actually very unimpressed with the Great Barrier Reef at this spot and found it to be pretty crappy snorkeling, as in there really was not much coral or fish to see. Well, there was actually a good amount of fish, but there were only like three or four varieties. I am sure there are better places to snorkel the reef, but from my experience it was not worth it.

es. I actually have a teacher that went snorkeling there. He said that there are amany spots with many fish and coral. The pictures where amazing. I think you just have to be at the right place at the right time.

I've snorkeled there too. Man, those were the best days of my life. I've never seen anything more beautiful than that, I swear.

It may have just been the place you went and the season as I'm sure it varies. Maybe you just didn't get a good guide or something as I've heard that many people have had really good experiences!
