Ok, I need some tips and tricks on how to fight a cold! What remedies do you use? How do you deal with the awful sinus pressure??

I am a big apple cider vinegar fan. When I get a cold and awful sinus pressure I mix some pure apple cider vinegar (not the heinz or low quality ones) with some honey and sugar as needed. It may be tough to drink but it surely works for me! However, because of the acidic content of the vinegar it is best to brush your teeth after wards so to not ruin the teeth enamel.

Sometimes though I just buy OTC cold remedies. Oddly, I get some of my worse colds at the end of summer.

Hope you feel better!

Just the usual -- lots of rest, take vitamin C, and keep warm. Sometimes I'll beat the cold to the punch and have chicken noodle soup before the cold arrives!

To beat the cold, ginger tea without milk with few drops of honey is indeed a great help. The sinus can be handled well with a bit of steam.Regular chicken sopup can also keep cold at a bay.

I usually use Coldrex and Vitamin C. After 2 days I feel much better and the cold simply vanishes.

Another thing that helps is what I call "honey tea" - just boil some water, take a spoonful of honey, dissolve it in a cup, and drink as hot as you can stand. This is best done before going to bed.

Drugs, drugs and more drugs. I don't trust "natural" or "herbal" medicine. I'll take a real doctor's opinion every day.

My father used to drink a very strong tomato or carrot juice. It didn't smell very good but maybe you can try that... Hope you get better soon!

I am happy to let you know I beat the sinus infection without antibiotics Thanks to everyone who had great ideas, the pepper spiked soup really helped to drain my sinuses!

I'm glad you beat it this time with the soup and pepper! That's what I try to do. Now if only I could stay on top of Autumn allergies I'd be doing fine!! LOL! I get them every year this time of year...grrrr...and generally a cold as well. Lots of vitamin C, loads of water, peppers of all varieties, some zinc couldn't hurt and I've heard that capsules of garlic help against sinus stuff.

I was reading too that garlic does help with the sinuses - do they make garlic capsules?

A doctor told me that the only thing that will really 'fight' your cold and make it go away is your own body, your own immune system.

So, I said, what is the point of Tylenol Cold then?

He said: "cold medicine does not chase the cold away. it simply deals with the symptoms, to make it more bearable while you wait for your body to fight the cold off."

One more thing you can do is drink lots of liquids - that helps your body rid itself of germs
