Default The Republican National Convention

I don't know if they had all the problems in Denver for the Democrats, but the Twin Cities is going just nuts with the Republican convention this week. It's been in the news every day this week about the protesters and violence and demonstrations. There was a group of people who have been meeting for over a year now here planning all sorts of terrible things for the convention calling themselves the RNC Welcoming Committee....molitov cocktails, stuff like that. Ya know...I just don't get it...people say they want peace and then they get all violent...what does that prove?

I would have left town! I would suggest hiding indoors for awhile... Looks like things are going to get pretty crazy around there.

Conventions have a history of inviting trouble. I'm not really that political. I'd rather watch a good movie at home.

You get that many liked-minded people together and throw in people who oppose those people and it's a volatile mix. It's no wonder there is always a huge police presence and you almost need national security clearance to just get close to the convention center.

I just caught McCain's speech last night, does that mean the convention is over and you can finally have your town back?

It shows how upset they are. A system that was suppose to protect them from what has happened with the Republicans being in control for 8 years, has inspired them to engage in dangerous acts. The behavior shouldn't be taken lightly. It is one thing to disapprove of it, but everyone needs to stop and think about what drive people to do such things.

I can't remember any huge protests during the DNC here in Denver, and I don't live that far from the center where it was held. Yes, there were people arrested, but no one was so motivated that they managed to cause huge disruptions.

Think about what has happened to the average person in the USA, and you will see many problems that could have, and should have been prevented.

It just proves that people are sick and tired of the Republicans, that's all. 8 years of Bush does that to a nation.

LOL Amen. Violence certainly is not the answer, but I can understand the feelings of desperation.

I think it's over....over 400 arrests later...sheesh! I'm glad I don't live right in St. Paul, but one of my kids goes to school up there so she had to deal with it all just to get to her classes. Generally I really love St. Paul too...it's just so benign, unlike Minneapolis (Murderapolis) so it's just strange to think about all that crap going on there. Glad it's over now!!
