Rio de Janeiro is one of the sunniest, most pleasant places on Earth. Its beaches have been praised by countless journalists. If you're ever there, though, avoid the poor parts of the city, as there's a high change you'll get mugged, like my friend did.

I am not so sure I would want to deal with the kinds of crime Rio is known for... Was your friend ok??

I also heard stories about Rio and tourists.
If you get too far from the hotel, it is not a very good match!
