Though it’s easy to get caught up in the romantic notion of the beaches and the crashing waves of the Bahamas, make sure that you take some time away from the sandy whites to really explore this wonderful area and find all that it has to offer! The beaches, gorgeous blue water, and long stretches of sand, although beautiful, are not all there is to a vacation in the Bahamas. Experiencing more of the Bahamas will make your trip that much more enriching and will give you something to reflect on when you of course, head back to the beach to unwind after a long day!

Start your trip with a trip to the Cloisters Nassau Bahamas for a piece of real Bahamian history. This is what was once a monastery in the fourteenth century and the pieces of stone that comprise it were imported in the 1920s and in the 1960s the cloisters there were also imported and placed at the top of the hill. For those that are interested in a destination wedding, this is one of the most popular sites for a wedding ceremony but anyone who wants to visit will find it extremely interesting and the view of the harbor from the gazebo is one that won’t be forgotten in a lifetime. But if you're single, or with friends, don't worry, there'll be plenty of other singles out in the exciting Bahamas night-life. Hooking up with the occasional beach beauty or slick stud while in the Bahamas is not exactly unheard of.

If you’re still looking for a taste of the area’s history, you may want to check out the Balcony House, located in Nassau. This is the oldest wooden house in the area and the staircase, which people come from all over the world to see, was rescued from a ship. When you’re through with the old and want something a little newer and more adventurous, you want to head over to Lucaya, where you can get up close and personal with dolphins at Dolphin Escapade, as you swim right along beside them! While you are still in Lucaya, also make sure that you visit the Underwater Explorers Society. Not only will you get lessons on diving that will help you better enjoy other parts of your trip, but it is with this group that you can also get a taste for some of the most amazing coral, shipwrecks, and of course, more dolphins that you could ever imagine!
