If you are looking for a picture perfect vacation that closely resembles the front of a postcard, the Dominican Republic is exactly what you are looking for. This exotic location has everything from adventure to quiet lover’s retreats and so much more in between. You can relax and bask on beautiful beaches, spas, or a tiny island, or enjoy the night-life and other hot tourist attractions. With beaches, golf courses, casinos, national parks, wonderful water activities and plenty of shopping, your Dominican Republic vacation is sure to be the best one you’ve ever had!
Just east of the major city of Puerto Plata is a city called Cabarete. If you have come to the Dominican Republic looking for some serious sun-worshipping time, then it is here that you want to do that! This cozy little town was once the hot spot for vacationers that wanted something a little more permanent than a hotel room and it has grown into one of the major attractions for the area. The area not only holds many different windsurf and kiteboard competitions here every year, due to the fabulous conditions, but you can also mountain bike, go canoeing, ride on horseback, or enjoy the beautiful surf. Las Galeras is another town in the Dominican Republic that has a lot of old-world charm but still offers picturesque beaches and activities such as snorkeling and shopping among its quaint boutiques and fine restaurants.
But if you’ve come to the Dominican Republic to spend more time on the green than in the sand, you’re in luck for that as well! The Dominican Republic has some of the finest golf courses in the world and it is here that you will truly be teeing off in paradise. Try for birdie at Punta Espada Golf Course, Jarabacoa Golf Club, Dye Fore, the White Sands Golf Course, and Playa Dorada Golf Course. You know the golfing is good when former presidents such as President Clinton used to make special trips to the Dominican Republic for the golfing opportunities alone!
But hey, let's face it, sometimes your luck on the course is no good, and at that point you can always try your hand at a game in one of the casinos in the area. Some of the best are Hotel Centro Plaza in Santiago, Iberostar Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, and Paradise Beach Club and Casino in Puerto Plata, to name just a few of the most popular out there. Be sure to keep some cash in your pocket though! You have a lot left to see and do, plus there's still your next trip to the Dominican Republic to plan.
