Touring the entire country of France would probably take years, though there are some who do spend months and more, just visiting all the regions of France and enjoying everything the country has to offer. However, if you don't want to spend the next year or so backpacking though a foreign country, albeit beautiful, there are ways to share a fun-filled and romantic holiday with your family, spouse, friends, or even just by giving yourself some luxury private time. It's been said that touring or vacationing in France is old-fashioned, or even cliché, but there are so many reasons why people keep coming to this beautiful country, and it can't possibly all be summed up with "Paris". Although Paris is a great place to start, there is so much more to discover. There are beautiful beaches, a world of delicious cuisine and wines, spas, ski resorts, museums, plenty of ecotourism adventures to be had, as well as historical landmarks and monuments.
In Paris visitors will be able to delve into a wonderland of sights and activities. A few of the numerous attractions are Disneyland, the Notre Dame cathedral, and several other famous attractions that draw in millions of tourists every year. But to experience a less gilded and superficial vacation, stray from the crowds, and visit other regions. An example is Champagne-Ardenne, an area that is literally all about the bubbly. Don’t forget to picnic near a vineyard and to go on tasting tours, where you can find bottles of the best local champagne, made right there in... Champagne! Or you could visit the island Corsica, the legendary birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, where his castle is still standing. Another point of interest is the beautiful city of Marseille. When looking out of the water, you can even see the Chateau d'If, the real life historical prison fortress where the fictional Count of Monte Cristo was imprisoned.
For visitors who prefer the wide outdoors to the city, there are the French Alps, a popular vacation destination for winter sports lovers. Ski resorts are particularly popular and offer catered or self-catered cabins, or chalets tucked into the mountain side, making it easy to get to the slopes, and even more convenient to get back to a warm, cozy fire at the end of the day.

Saint TropezDuring the 80s and 90s St. Tropez was known as 'the place to be' and its beaches soon filled with the in-crowd who visited simply to be seen. Today the atmosphere in St. Tropez has somewhat changed, having calmed down considerably and returned to being a beautiful southern town on the French Riviera... |
