Riccione is a commune within the province of Rimini; East Italy and after becoming well known for its nightlife and coastal location, Riccione is now one of the country's most successful tourist destinations. Not far from Rimini's capital city, Riccione has secured its supreme location right in the heart of the Eastern Italian Riviera, offering families the option of having fun at the plethora of amusement parks and nature trails, couples the chance to wine and dine in some of Italy's finest restaurants and friends the chance to enjoy the Italian nightlife. While Rimini could be seen as a Jack-Of-All-Trades, it certainly does it very well!

Although it's not a humongous area, and with just over 35,000 residents, Riccione is home to Europe's number one water park, 'Aquafan'. This makes Rimini's neighboring commune a great holiday destination for families, as well as being within driving distance of some of Italy's most prestigious regions such as Bologna and Florence.

This is where you go when you're in the mood to spend some of that holiday cash. The Riccione Shopping district of Viale Ceccarini overlooks the shores of the Adriatic Sea. What more could you want from a day at the shops than to finish it off with a relaxing seaside drink?

The weather in Rimini is much like the weather anywhere else on the Eastern Italian coast. This means that it is hottest during July and August (with temperatures often reaching 30ºC and above). While this means lots of sun, for those who aren't used to the heat it can be a bit much and it might be better to travel during May to June so that you aren't bogged down by the heat.

Trains run to Riccione frequently via the big Italian cities at any time of day, so the time of day that you travel shouldn't make any difference to how easy it will be to get to Riccione by train. Do take into consideration that the weekends are usually busy for East-coast resorts, so a train on a Friday or Saturday is likely to be crowded.

By Car

This is the best way to see the rest of Italy before you arrive at the Riviera. After your arrival you then obviously have the opportunity to sight-see wherever and whenever you choose. Getting to Riccione by car is easy via the A14, which uses a toll-system (pay upon leaving).

By Boat

If you have previously been holidaying in another town or city along the Eastern Riviera then catching a boat or ferry to Riccione is a highly recommended choice.

Beach Number 134 (Sand beach)

Location: Riccione

This beach has gotten a lot of media attention lately and it may be because it is a beach that offers everything you ever wanted -- or is missing something pretty big -- depending on how you look at it. This beach does not allow any men on it, making it the only all-female exclusive beach in Italy. This is a great trip for women who want to have a truly unique experience but for now, men have to keep this stop off of their itinerary.
