Making up the North Eastern tip of the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy is the province of Rimini. With a population of almost 300,000 and land spanning 534km², this Mid-Eastern Italian province is a thriving and exciting place. Rimini's capital city (also called Rimini) has a population of around 138,000 and is considered one of the finest coastal resorts on the Eastern coast of Italy. Fishing and coastal navigation are popular industries within Rimini's economy, yet tourism also brings in a lot of the inhabitant's income.

With a rich variety of Roman architecture, a bustling nightlife in towns such as Riccione and being located right on the coast, the reasons to visit Rimini stretch far and wide. Despite its reputation for being a busy and wild area, there's actually a lot more to it than just nightlife. Whether you're an elderly couple looking to relax in the Italian sun, a fun-seeking family looking for adventure or a group of friends searching for the best bars and clubs there's something in Rimini for you.

Getting There

By Plane

Perhaps the easiest way to get to Rimini is by flying directly to Rimini airport. From here travelers can catch a bus or coach to almost any area of Rimini. If you can't find a flight from your nearest airport directly to the destination then opt for one that goes to Bologna and catch a train or bus to Rimini itself.

By Train

Traveling to Rimini by train can be a beautiful experience if you go to sleep riding through the Alps and wake up by the sea. While many of the European train services don't offer travel directly to this Province, it is possible to travel to a nearby city (e.g. Rome or Bologna) and catch a Trenitalia service to Rimini.

By Car

There are two main motorways which link Italy together; the A22 and A14. Rimini can be accessed via these roads and to drive all the way from Calais should take around 31 hours. Therefore you could plan a trip where you stop off in France and North Italy before arriving in Rimini.

During the summer months Rimini fills with tourists looking to travel to the beaches and sights around the province. There are several bus services (e.g. 'TRAM') which will take you from the Capital City to Riccione and along the coast.

By Car

The Emilia-Romagna region employs a toll system by which when you enter you take a ticket and pay when you leave. Do bear in mind that in summer the Rimini coast is an incredibly popular spot and at weekends the traffic gets intense. It's a good idea to plan your drive for during the week.

On Foot

If you're a keen cyclist then Rimini is your ideal holiday destination. The 30km of stunning grassy cycling trails will take you from the heart of the city, through the countryside and right out onto the beaches. What better way to get out in the open and experience Rimini first hand?

Nightlife

Rimini is a Mecca for clubbers in Italy and in particular the commune of Riccione. While nightlife in Rimini typically consists of cocktail bars with small dance floors; there is certainly no shortage of larger clubs which stay open well into the night, and the next morning.

Tiberio's Bridge

Between San Giuliano and Corso D'Augusto stands a 2000 year old structure, over the waters of the Marecchia River and incredibly visitors can still walk along it. Built in 21 A.D by the Romans under the command of Emperor Augustus, this ancient bridge still shows inscriptions from thousands of years ago.

Italia In Miniatura

The British have Legoland and Italians have 'Italia In Miniatura'; the Eastern Coasts' tiny representation of Italy in model form.
